Local authorities

Our relations with the authorities are very good. In areas where we work the density of our extension service is much higher then the government's. Contacts with government extensionists are very close, in some cases even formalised so that governmental employees are integrated in our organisation. The work of Vi Agroforestry and our contacts with local authorities are very much appreciated by the authorities, locally and on district and national levels. We are also invited to participate in national and regional discussions on rural development, agroforestry and extension.

World Agroforestry Centre

We have a Memorandum of Understanding (M.o.U) with World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) on exchange of information and on-farm research. We also have M.o.U's with Makarere University in Uganda and Moi University in Kenya.

Other NGO:s

Locally in each project we have close contacts with other NGO's. We invite each other to meetings and activities and share information about each other's activities. Groups organised in one organisation can be contacted by another organisation, and vice versa. We also refer to other organisations in areas outside our own competence, and are referred to by them in agroforestry/agricultural issues.

The long and close contact Vi Agroforestry has with farmers, groups of farmers and local authorities can be very valuable for various kinds of information and development. We are very positive to cooperation with other organisations on these issues. We have ongoing discussions with RFSU and the Red Cross about linking information about HIV/Aids to our organisation.

Swedish Cooperative Centre

Small-scale farmers and groups of farmers who have increased their production over subsistence level, may need to be organised e.g. to sell their products, organise transport and supplies, access micro-credits etc. We cooperate therefore with Swedish Cooperative Centre (SCC). They have benefits from this cooperation due to the fact that a critical mass of farmers  have a production that enables them to demand cooperative efforts like sale of products, saving-lending schemes etc. The participating farmers will gain from further development and improvements in the livelihood of their families, villages and organisations.
